SHIELD A BADGE WITH PRAYER
Heartland is joining several area churches in prayer for our police officers and deputies. The program is called Shield a Badge and was started in 1988 by a mother who was concerned about 3 of her sons becoming police officers. She knew the need for prayer not only for her sons but for all police officers.
You would be committing to pray for an officer for 1 year. The goal of the program is to involve all of the community in a common commitment. This is to be a daily prayer for the SAFETY, GOOD JUDGEMENT, and A SAFE RETURN HOME for each officer. Thus the name: "SHIELD A BADGE” with prayer.
✪ The Officer's name and badge number will be given to the participant.
✪ Communications with the officer will be limited to a card or note (with the officer’s name and badge number) several times a year, letting them know you are praying for them through SHIELD A BADGE program. Seasonal cards are welcome, but no gifts.
✪ If an officers leaves the force, the prayer person will be notified and assigned a new name / badge number.
